Welcome to our island!

Twenty two years? Yup, where has the time gone?

Somewhere between being young and in love and subsequently having our firstborn heading off to college and our youngest being a senior in high school, twenty two years zipped by. Well, we’re still young and in love, but how did our kids get so old? This week Melora and Don celebrate our twenty second anniversary.

Our island isn’t very big, but we’ve got a lot of heart. We’ve been sitting here on the east coast of Florida for two generations, and we’re still going strong.

Like the small waves that lap on on our shores, Don has also surfed the web since 1994 when he established his first web presence to promote his work,  and in 1996 he established his own illustration and animation firm serving the nation’s top publications, the government and fortune 500 companies.

But, that’s business. For that, you can go to donfoley.com or his associated busniess, newsinfographics.com.

With FoleyIsland, we’ve found a home where we can pull together our minor family adventures. All of which, of course, were well recorded by the media hounds that currently root around the sands of FoleyIsland. Want to know how to make your own cannon? How do you set an anchor in Florida’s waters? Build a home theater? We have it scattered about the internet now, but the goal of FoleyIsland is to bring all our information together in one place.

One thing we enjoy sharing is our life here on FoleyIsland, so you’ll find updates in the Denizen Blog.

Our audience for this site is our family and friends scattered around the country. We’ve moved many times and along the way we have had the honor of meeting some of the most interesting people you can imagine. We’ve also cruised the east coast of the United States in various boats, and have shared the shores with a great number of adventurous souls.

And now we’re finding, as our girls grow and leave the nest, this is our place to share our experiences with them. They can find the photos of some of the adventures we’ve shared, and some of the recipes of the many meals we’ve prepared at our evening meals.

Many thanks to our long-time friend, Glenn Abel, Blogger-extraordinaire (www.writeforblogs.com), to help us figure out some of this WordPress stuff.
