They say about 10 bazillion web blogs are created every day, so we really didn’t have a choice but to join the trend.
Well, not really. We’d like to think of ourselves as trend setters. We’ve been doing this LONG before the word BLOG was coined. Now it’s old-hat.
Primarily we’ve recorded our various sailboat journeys along the coastal waters of the eastern seaboard. In addition to those, we’ve had numerous construction and garden projects as well as few other sites on the web.
Don has also had a solid web presence since 1994, and has run his illustration firm based on internet accessibility to his clients since 1996. It’s been a pretty good run. His regular client list includes the top twenty magazines and many of the top newspapers in the country. His work is regularly featured in publications such as National Geographic, Popular Science and Scientific American.
Now, with FoleyIsland, we’ve found a home where we can pull together our minor adventures. All of which, of course, were well recorded by the media hounds that currently root around the sands of FoleyIsland. Want to know how to make your own cannon? How do you set an anchor in Florida’s waters? Build a home theater? We have it scattered about the internet now, but the goal of FoleyIsland is to bring all our information together in one place.
One thing we enjoy sharing is our life here on FoleyIsland, so you’ll find updates in the Denizen Blog. For older posts, click on the “Previous Entries” link at the bottom of the blog.
Our audience for this site is our family and friends scattered around the country. We’ve moved four times in our 20 years (Florida to Arizona to Virginia to Georgia to Florida) and along the way we have had the honor of meeting some of the most interesting, fun people you can imagine. In addition to years of cruising the coast in our various boats, we also spent a year at sea on the eastern seaboard exploring the coast and running into characters that would fit well into a Hemingway novel. All have become part of our lives, and this site is for them.
Many thanks to our long-time friend, Glenn Abel, Blogger-extraordinaire (www.writeforblogs.com), to help us figure out some of this WordPress stuff. Don’t worry Glenn, once I’m done hacking it out, my editors will clean up after me.
