Welcome to our island!

Looking East from our house (from the roof)

It’s SPRING!

And we made it past Easter, which means the snowbirds will be heading home within the next week or two, and we get our island back.

For a while. Then the family summer crowd comes in. But that’s OK, we’ll go play on the beach again (with our dogs) as the condo commandos  put up their hurricane windows and head north. The summer crowd is much cooler about golden retrievers playing in the waves.

A dog-on-the-beach violation costs $50 the first time. So each year we’ve put $50 into each dog’s ‘kitty’.  We haven’t been caught once (although our neighbors have), so the pups have over $500 in their savings account (Rugg’s carried over to Sonny). Pretty soon Tag will have his first year at Brevard Community College covered.

He’s thinking about studying Osteology. We support him in this.

Our island isn’t very big, but we’ve got a lot of heart. We’ve been sitting here on the east coast of Florida for three generations, and we’re still going strong.

Like the small waves that lap on on our shores, Don has also surfed the web since 1994 when he established his first web presence to promote his work,  and in 1996 he established his own illustration and animation firm serving the nation’s top publications, the government and fortune 500 companies.

But, that’s business. For that, you can go to donfoley.com or his associated business, newsinfographics.com.

Don has walked these beaches most of his life. Of course, nobody called it FoleyIsland back then. But nobody has EVER given this island a name. So we call it, FoleyIsland.

With FoleyIsland.com, we’ve found a home where we can pull together our minor family adventures. All of which, of course, were well recorded by the media hounds that currently root around the sands of FoleyIsland.

One thing we enjoy sharing is our life here on FoleyIsland, so you’ll find updates in the Denizen Blog.

Our audience for this site is our family and friends scattered around the country. We’ve moved many times and along the way we have had the honor of meeting some of the most interesting people you can imagine. We’ve also cruised the east coast of the United States in various boats, and have shared the shores with a great number of adventurous souls.

And now we’re finding, as our girls grow and leave the nest, this is our place to share our experiences with them. They can find the photos of some of the adventures we’ve shared, and some of the recipes of the many meals we’ve prepared at our evening dinners.
