Ansel Tribute Page
Thursday, August 28th, 2008After sixteen years with us, Ansel the Cat, former managing editor of the East Coast Journal, has left us.
Ansel joined Team Foley in 1992 when we lived in our first house in Vienna Virginia on McNeil Street. Shortly after that she began to rule the roost and never was afraid to give us her input on a variety of topics. In the early days she was quite the huntress, often bringing inside the odd bird or chipmunk.
Ansel, boat’s cat
One of our favorite Ansel stories came from our year-long boat trip. She was a trouper the whole way down, but seldom left the boat. That changed when we pulled into Key West for a month. Every night when we settled into our berths for the night, Ansel would slip off the boat onto the dock. Shortly after sunrise, when we’d be making our morning coffee, she’d stumble back aboard again and sleep all day. We figured she was out partying with the Hemingway cats out on Duval Street all night long.
Ansel, you will be missed, but most importantly, your memory of our house cat in four of our five houses (and one boat) will be cherished.
Always looking for the perfect spot.
Forever curious about new things
And always watchful
